Court grants Shatta Wale’s request to settle Bulldog’s defamation suit out of court

In his defamation case against dancehall singer Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shatta Wale, artist manager Lawerence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bullgod, requested an out-of-court settlement, and the Accra High Court has granted his request.

Following a post on Shatta Wale’s social media profile in November of last year accusing him of killing Fennec Okyere, manager of the musician Kwaw Kese, Bullgod filed a lawsuit.

Bullgod was also accused of other things by Shatta Wale. Bullgod is fighting Shatta Wale for damages on the grounds that the accusations made against him are malicious and defamatory.

Bullgod’s attorney, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, nevertheless told the court that negotiations for a settlement had already begun and that the parties had discussed one.

At the most recent adjourned date, the judge ordered the parties to submit their witness statements. Dr. Srem-Sai informed the judge that his client was unable to follow the instruction because the settlement was reached outside of court.

He prayed for a postponement as a result, and depending on how the negotiations turn out, he may formally request an extension of time to submit the witness statement.

The matter was postponed until April 18 after Justice Joseph Agyemang Owusu, the judge, urged the parties to reach a settlement.
